| Seminar Presentations | Many courses require the oral presentations from students at tutorials and seminars. It is possible that you may be required to give many presentations during your studies. In case students at first have to speak in front of an audience, very often they are nervous. But with the help practice they can become effective presenters.
As usual courses have a week-by-week tutorial topic. There is reading list for which all members of the tutorial group are expected to do some background reading. This includes a seminar presentation component. At such seminar one or more students "present" a topic to other students, who join in a discussion.
The usual things at seminar presentation can involve: • reading background material • preparing your presentation • leading the discussion • preparing necessary handouts or visual aids • preparing relevant and thought-provoking questions • submitting a written assignment based on the presentation topic
Choosing a Topic Naturally in tutorials and seminars, presentation topics are set well in advance. One of the main opportunities is that you may be permitted to choose the topic you will present. In another case you may choose a topic that may be allocated to you. But there are some situations when you don't know what topic you would like to choose. In this case the best choice is always the one that interests you the most.
You must be sure that you fully understand the question(s). Also is important that you are sure of what you have to do. In case you are unsure of the objectives of your presentation, you should check with your tutor.
Seminar Papers You may be expected to submit a seminar paper, after you give your seminar. Seminar paper in general in written form in continuous prose. And also seminar paper must be fully referenced. Moreover it can be altered or changed. Such seminar papers are based on the results of the tutorial discussion. You may check with your tutor for details.
